Creativity

Naturally, creativity was an essential aspect of my magazine coursework. While doing my similar product research, I observed that it is important to have a creative idea for it to stand out among other products of that medium and genre. I decided that the creativity of my work would be at it's strongest if I used a consistent running theme throughout the pages of the magazine I created. I decided to incorporate a 'jail' style theme into my work, using 'mug shot' style images with a lined 'measurement' background and black and white colour schemes. I think this was a strong aspect of creativity in my work because it was an original idea which would make it stand out against other magazines, as this type of theme would not be commonly used.
I also think that the name of my music magazine; 'Banned' was way of showing creativity, as the title perfectly summed up all aspects of my magazine. Firstly, the name 'Banned' sounds like the word 'band', drawing it into the musical genre. Secondly, the connotations of the word 'banned' are rebellion and forbiddance, and I thought this tied perfectly into the genre of alternative music- something that breaks boundaries and takes risks.
